From there I took the DAT into my studio and digitally transferred it using ProTools, preserving the integrity of the 48kHz/16Bit transfer (unfortunately a 24Bit transfer was not an option). These raw, unprocessed wave files were remastered by MOB creating this Rev A for Harvested Records "Six Of One" release. Here are some of his comments about the remaster:"We worked from the recent master transfer (previously shared as rough 48kHz files) and this Rev.A can definitely be considered as an upgrade compared to the rough version. Slight EQ was applied in order to bring the musical content more in front and attenuate the non-musical noises. We tried our best to fix the imperfections from the 37-year-old master including a lot of level fluctuations. However, it should be noted that we find our original release of "Six Of One" still sounding great, although with more hiss. Our source for the original release was from a well preserved tape, that had much less disturbances and imperfections than the 2007 transfer."Some additional info from the current owner of the reels:"I didn't tape this show as was posted earlier ( I was 10 years old at the time!), but the taper, John Parkin, kindly gave me his master in the early 90's.I've no idea who has what in terms of generation but I only made three direct transfers from reel to DAT. When I bought a DAT machine in 1994 I made a safety copy for myself and one also for a friend who is also a member of this forum (edit:Yeeshkul). I sent a few copies to friends at the time and these were clones from my DAT. I also made two cassette copies for other friends one of which was given away some years ago, this is probably the source of most of the boots that have surfaced. I subsequently made a new transfer about 3 years ago for a collector in the US who asked for one (nobody else asked!) so despite comments by others this was never hoarded, it was freely given to people I was in touch with at the time.The original tape was recorded on a Grundig TK 140 machine at 3 3/4 ips, no idea what mics were used. Dr. Forrester, your generosity is overwhelming me. I simply cannot keep up.You are doing a great service for Pink Floyd fans by making all these great recordings available. I hope you post some of the Reeling series, as these are not available anywhere else.
It is impressive to see the quantity and quality of material you have published about Pink Floyd, Dr. Forrester ... not ever get tired, your blog is real paradise for those who are hooked emotionally with Pink Floyd. Many thanks, once again.
