David Gilmour - 2006.03.20 - AVRO Radio 2

You didn't think there would be any more interviews from the On An Island tour, did you ? How could there be any more ?? Well, Skippy, here's another one... from Dutch radio to you!

Dave

Nick Mason - 1967-March SRP3

An interview from super early in their careers.. Interviews this early don't come around often. In fact, I can only think of three. A pity that it's so short...

Nick!

2005.March.11 - Nick Mason France Inter Online Archive

This is an online interview of Nick promoting his book. It does have French overdubbing.. *sigh*

Here

David Gilmour - 1980 - Phone Interview

As a phone interview, never intended for broadcast, not subject to editing, this is a little more informal than a typical interview. But, it's also a little rougher around the edges.

Here

Roger Waters - 1990.July.02 - Rockline Interview

Another Berlin '90 interview. You can't say that Roger didn't do his part to promote this event..

Roger Waters - 1985 Rockline Interview

The reclusive Roger Waters being interviewed by Bob Coburn and call-in fans on Rockline during the "Pros and Cons" tour. This is classic crochety Waters, describing how he's "not a big fan of the ladies" and how American foreign policy is based on "old cowboy movies". You'll love it!

San Francisco - Interstellar Overdrive

I didn't want to go into the world of video. Believe me, if you think I've got a lot of interviews - and there are *many* remaining - it's nothing compared to the videos. Uploading it all would take literally years. But, I wanted to upload this one for The Real 2.0 & didn't want to just leave the links in a comment.

Roger Waters 1991-11-21 Interview by Jim Ladd

Another interview of Roger by his favorite interviewer... Roger spends at least 10 minutes complaining about Sinead O'Connor. It's the old cranky Roger that I grew up loving! I can't help smiling just thinking about it.

Roger Waters Interview

Here's a weird interview thing... You get Roger's answers, but no audio for the questions. I guess you're meant to record yourself asking the questions, then play Roger's answer so you can "pretend" to be interviewing him. I didn't keep any records of where I found this thing.. But, the questions are provided in a text file. The audio was originally in RealAudio, but this has been converted to .wav (.flac) for you.

If you happen to know the origin of this interview, please leave a comment! Thanks!

I ripped the audio from the official More DVD and normalized all of the song sections between the dialog so we can hear it as well as could be expected considering... At normal volume, some portions are essentially silent. This archive contains three versions of Seabirds - 1) the completely unprocessed version from the DVD 2) My normalized version (much louder) and 3) a cover version that I found. It's a crappy .mp3. But, it's the only copy that I could find. If you've got a better sounding cover, please get in touch!

1977-May - In Search Of Pink Floyd

This is one of the most peculiar radio documentaries about the Floyd you're likely to hear. The premise is that the station are trying to track down the Floyd for an interview, but they go about it in a most round-about fashion. There's a wind-up right at the end, but they never did get to speak to the band...

They did speak with Alan Parsons, Roy Harper, one of the band's technicians and various others though and the show is somewhat enlightening about the 'Flying Pig' incident over London, when it broke free of it's tethers while shooting the pictures for the 'Animals' album cover. And the presenter speaks at length with a rather bemused night-shift manager at Heathrow Air-Traffic Control...

Part 3

Zabriskie - What's The Point

The content is for Floydian completists, but as obscure artefacts of Floydian projects go, this is one of my favourites. On the music front, the show opens and closes with "Come In Number 51" but otherwise there's little of a Floydian nature to get excited about.

What is interesting though is the subject of the discussion, and the context to which it puts the Floyd's soundtrack, and the historical / cultural context within which they were composing the music. Zabriskie is a dense, and pretty impenetrable movie, and a lot of people write it of as a 'too much talk not enough action' show... I think the discussion in this show helps reveal some of Antonioni's intentions and make the movie a more enjoyable watch. Both the movie and this radio show, are probably more for the die-hards, even so.

1968.May.25 - BBC Radio 1 RW Interview 'The Story Of Pop'

Pink Floyd'The Story Of Pop No. 26 : A Trip On The London Underground'BBC Radio 1 Broadcast 1994-07-12

Complete Documentary Broadcast. 58'19"
Includes Roger Waters Interview by Brian Matthews recorded 1968-05-25.
The interview was recorded during the band's session for the Top Gear show broadcast by the BBC on 1968-11-08, but it wasn't featured in the broadcast at that time. I believe that the interview was intended for the 'Top Of The Pops' Transcription Services show, which the BBC made for sale to foreign stations around the world.
Whatever it's original purpose, the interview was included in the BBC 'Story Of Pop' documentary broadcast on BBC Radio 1 in July 1994.

Master Tapes - Tape 1

I'll still post the odd radio show or two, as they turn up in the archives. But, I think I'll gradually turn to a series of master reels that I happened to discover. Each reel was transferred to DAT. Each DAT was digitally dumped to a computer as a .wav file. The .wav files were converted to .flac and then to a series of .rar files. I'll provide you with the descriptions, as written on the original reels. These reels are from a very serious collector & are the sources used for virtually every RoIO from these dates since. I asked a bunch of friends to compare with other released versions of these shows. We found that these versions are almost always slightly longer (more audience noice and longer pauses between songs - the kinds of things that are cut for commercial RoIOs) and have better audio spectra than other versions. In other words, even if you already have these shows, you'll want this version. As suggested above, I have done absolutely no editing, sound adjustments, or other manipulation.

DAT recorders can record in different sound quality levels. Again, you get exactly the quality of the original DAT tape. This means better-than-CD for most of them.

1976 - Capitol Radio Series

This installment has a silly story associated with it... It is made of 6 shows. Three were played at the end of 1976 and three were played at the start of 1977. For the 30th anniversary, the host, Nicky Horne, wanted to rebroadcast all 6 parts. But... The masters had gone missing. He turned to The Fans looking for a copy. I sent along this copy. He promised to send an autograph, but never did. *bummer*
