Pink Floyd Hollywood Bowl 1972-09-22 "Box 1432 Tape" low-gen AUD reel-to-reel with photos and artwork *NEWLY FOUND SOURCE OF THE BEST PINK FLOYD SHOW!* (first time in circulation)
I am deliriously happy to present this music for the first time to the Dime community!
Upon rediscovering this tape, I originally thought I had found the master for the "Crackers" bootleg. Although I didn't have any proof other than what you see in the photos, they are very convincing evidence that this tape had SOMETHING to do with making a record album, even if it was only in someone's imagination. However, when this music was presented to the Floydian minds at Yeeshkul, it was determined that this was in fact, a completely new source which was distinctly different to anything currently circulating. This version includes approximately 2:30 of new material prior to the first chord of the song "Breathe", and it is NOT cut during "On The Run".
There were several fades on the original tape, which had been set up for LP mastering. These have been preserved for the most part, with digital fades overlaid to keep the tape hiss from flaring. "The Great Gig In The Sky" was in two distinct parts, and it has been left that way. The end of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" has been reconstructed, and the track break has been moved. The original tape fades right after Roger's last breath, and the next track begins with most of the rest of the applause. It was too abrupt the way it was.
Tuneups were tracked by themselves, so that the beginning of each tune falls on the start of the next track.
This tape is one-channel monophonic. To keep with avoiding conta bonos, the second channel was duplicated in Sound Forge. Hence, the Flac compression rates are at around .300, but this is the entire set as I have it.

crackers was the first boot i ever seen or heard,it came in a black box, with about 4 lps inside.there was a pice of paper inside telling you the first track breath was from another sourse because there was a problem with the tapeing.i recorded the lps and gave the box set back to the guy i borrowed them from.you can hear a guy selling hot dogs just before echoes.one of these days just blew me away, and dave singing the wrong verse during money(28 years ago)i taped this and i still have the tape.
For those who may have gotten this from QualityBootz, the downloaded files are actually Harvested's version of this show, Bowl de Luna Revision A, which is recorder 2, the same as the Platinum Edition posted here today, which is also known as the speed corrected version of the Fireman's Tapes, vol. 5.
Doinker's tape does not have 2:30 of extra tunings before Breathe starts, but it does have more than the other rec 2 versions. It also has extended tunings before the last 4 songs that are indexed separately.
Comparing sound quality of all the versions, I like the matrix Platinum Crackers the least. Matrix tapes don't work for me - the timing and decay of musical notes are destroyed by the process - I'm sensitive to phasing problems, as I think all people are, once you get past the gimmickry of it. I erased this version.
Second, I don't like the Doinker tape. The sound is ragged, compressed and has a distortion underlying the sound. I would not have guessed that the so-called Doinker tape from QualityBootz is actually Harvested Rev A if not for the posting by Beth on that blog which alerted me, thank you. Listening confirmed it is the Revision A from the same recorder 2 as the Fireman's Tape. Bowl de Luna Rav A is close to but not quite as good as the Fireman's Tape. The latter has low levels, so to compare fairly, one must match volume levels carefully, but the musical information is there and the hiss low enough to allow that. To my ears this is the one to get. YGBC's database concurs, unless you can find the Zeus version, which I have never seen nor heard.
Thank you Dr. Forrester for posting this at my request. I felt that it was important to alert collectors that they may have unknowingly obtained the wrong version and give them an opportunity to get the real deal. Sgt Weatherman feels that the Doinker tape is the best (though it's possible he too was listening to Bowl de Luna when he came to that conclusion).
One last thing, I am a huge fan of QualityBootz and don't want this to be seen as a knock on them, as they very generously share a wide range of music.
Thank you once again, Doctor. After reading all the comments, I, too, am looking forward to listening to this one to hear how it compares with the others of this date. I appreciate your helping me with this task!

A DoinkerTape
Thanks for this! I have Bowl de Luna, and I'm curious to see how this compares to it sound-wise. Hope you're having a great week. :-)
