1. CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE (11:14m) 2. CYMBALINE (9:00m) 3. THE EMBRYO (8:46m) 4. SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN (11:04m) 5. 'We Want More!' (0:44m) 6. A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS (17:46m)
well, this is from an alternate recorder than the common roios 'Amsterdam Free Concert' and the Ayanami release 'At Free Concert'. And it sounds far better, more solid. Sound is nice, a good EX- near to EX. This one was sourced from the LP ROiO 'Early Tours 70-71' but this is not the R&D remaster, since here setlist is different and the R&D lasts more, but both remasters are taken from the same LP ROiO. And one of the tracks is not from this date?, is from another concert (i think it is ASoS but now i cant confirm it... neither the date) i'll post the info later, or i will correct me if i'm wrong).
update 10-Dec-2004: after a couple of listen, it sounds as the whole gig so there's no misdated track, it is all from 1971-06-26.
original notes: An absolutely superb performance from this free outdoor concert in a forest near Amsterdam, where it apparently was pouring down with rain. The quality is amazingly clear for an audience recording. After removing hiss and crackle caused by an original vinyl pressing and carefully removing any nasty clicks and pops, the quality is now first class. There are some very interesting versions of songs especially "Cymbaline" with the heavy breathing instead of the footsteps, and "Embryo" with Roger's 'Grooving with a Pict' type ranting, and an extremely nice "Saucerful of Secrets". All in all one of the most enjoyable concerts I have come across in a long time. -gotta_be_craz
This posting is for the 2nd recorder for this show. There is a 3rd recorder that lasts about 20 minutes and is superior sound quality than other versions. There is also a 1st recorder of slightly lesser quality, but it has the last Astronome Domine played during the Waters-era PF (it was later played in 1994). Just wondering if you have either of these to post.
Thanks for everything. I already had the Godfather version of this (as well as the orig vinyl euro boot). Your version is an upgrade.
Oops, my bad eyesight caused me to misread the date - as the show I was referring to where AD was last played was the 20th and not the 26th. And the LP rip is considered source 1 on pf-db.com. However, I did correctly note that there is a 3rd recorder of better quality.
As for the question of converting SHN to FLAC, I use a freeware program called FormatFactory, which is incredibly useful for converting almost any video or audio file into another type.

Hi,
Is there a chance for flac or even mp3 link? Too much trouble with shn files for me.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

nice sounding gig
I give this an A- for sound quality, maybe an A-/B+. Short but nice performance. Thank you Dr. F!
