Schoeps CCM4's > Sony PCM-M1

Please excuse the digression from the WLIR Pre-FM series, but the brand spanking new must
take precedence over the old, and I vowed to myself that I would get this up within 24 hours of
the show.

Through the generous courtesy of Bob (who has my back), 'Ol Schoeps and I were invited to see
this stellar performance. For those who don't know, Irving Plaza is another one of those small
ballroom type venues in NYC, about « the size of your average high school gym. I'm guessing
the capacity is somewhere near 500-700 people, and though technically "sold out", the place did
not feel as crowded as other shows I have seen there. I'd say 500 people tops, which was great
on a hot steamy New York City night.

Positioned myself on the sweet spot dead center of the floor, about 10 rows of bodies from the
stage and an equal distance directly in front of the soundboard. Only moments before the show
started as the lights went down a young taper with a mini disc got busted right in front of me as
he crouched down in his place to set up his equipment. Sorry kid, hope you see this so that you
can download a copy of a really great show that you missed.

As you can see from the set list, this show has it all. I can't think of one Fogerty hit that wasn't
played. Having said that I'm sure some of you will take up the challenge and name a few that
slip my mind. Fogerty was in a great mood and really rocked the place. His energy level was
high throughout the performance, reminding me of some kind of aerobic workout. By the end of
the show his shirt was completely soaked through with sweat down to the tails and his hair
slicked to his scalp. Everyone left exhausted and satisfied ... didn't hear one complaint, but the
general buzz was "He played it all!!!"

Hope you enjoy this recording. Please let me know what you think of it. Feel free to convert to
whatever format you like (I can't stop you from making an MP3 to listen to on your IPOD's
anyway), but please don't pollute the gene pool by releasing copies of this show to others in lossy
formats.
