Lineage: Low Gen Cass (Maxell XLII-S 90) > Nakamichi 581 > Edirol UA-1EX > Audacity 1.3 > Wav (24bit/96kHz) ---> Samplitude10 (32bit/96kHz) > Wav (24bit/96kHz) > Adobe Audition 1.5 (32bit/96kHz) > Wav(16bit/44kHz) > CDWave (1.98) > FLAC

***Neonknight's Notes***
A cassette copy (one generation higher) of this tape appears on some traders lists from a transfer I did for a friend in the 1990s. I obtained the original cassette from a very experienced German collector in January 1996. The German collector was very diligent about the lineage of his tapes and DATs when he knew them and couldn't offer any detail on this one. I'm confident that he was not the original recorder but 'low' has got to be a very fair guess for the lineage. My tape has speed problems and left channel drop outs/distortions and the songs are in the wrong order. I contacted Littlepieces about making the corrections and then provided him with a 24bit/96kHz wave file as he requested.

***Littlepieces' Mastering Notes***
The objective was to make the necessary corrections with a minimum amount of processing iterations with the highest quality processing/dither settings. This is a mono recording that was processed as two channel stereo as is often the case. It has a small variable phase shift throughout. The left channel distortion mentioned in the notes of the copy shared by neonknight in the 90's would be more accurately described as left channel dropouts with distortions when the left channel drops out. Approximately 7m of FOS, more than 3m of STC, some in RotSoN, and elsewhere have dropouts in the left channel. Also the left channel was consistently lower than the right channel by about 1-3db. Bottom line, the best solution for all of these things, given this is a mono recording, is to eliminate the inferior left channel. No more dropouts, no more phase shift, no more channel level difference. I then carefully determined the speed using Doinkers/Toolemans reel offering and speed-corrected accordingly. Lastly, I corrected the track order.

In the near future, I will release a LPP version with some level/gain adjustments, editing, and maybe some mild sound shaping and light dusting of the hiss depending on how it responds to it.

Being a German I can assure you that it should read
Philips Veranstaltungshalle (in one word) - the same mistake I have read again and again, thought it might be time for a correction...
