The Moody Blues Live At Jones Beach 1987-07-08 master AUD - The hardest Moody Blues concert you will *ever* hear, AND a live "Dear Diary!" (mp3 samples included)
I'm sorry I can't give you a sample long enough to convey the sheer panic of the opening of this show, you'll just have to listen to the whole thing. From the first beats, the audience, who was expecting another pastoral evening with the Moodies... got their asses blown off and pasted to the theatre walls. It was that exciting. You can hear it in the audience on the tape (part of it is the first sample).
This tape had been transferred once in the early days of cdrs on older equipment. I didn't even think the recording was worthy of a second look. Then, when doing the last batch of MB restorations for other people (one more of those is to come), the subject of a 1987 show came up. "Did you know, it's the only time they did "Dear Diary?" No... "Did you know there are no good recordings of that era?" No...
So it was dug up, and retransferred with the new technology. Wow... great show. Look at the setlist:
