CONTRAST CLAUSE and Q & A's concerning this version

(with thanks to david dunnington and meeksgenesis who provided this excellent FAQ - Genesis-Movement torrent)

Q: What's this?
A: First ever rebroadcast of the John Peel "Sounds of the 70s" session,
recorded 9th January 1972

Q: When was the first broadcast:
A: 28-Jan-72, except Harlequin, 17-Mar-72

Q: Where was it recorded?
A: Studio T1, Transcription Service, Kensington House, Shepherds Bush,
London, UK

Q: What's the linup?
A: Peter Gabriel (Vocals/Flute)
Mike Rutherford (Bass, Guitar, Vocals)
Tony Banks (Keyboards)
Phil Collins - D, Bv (Drums, Backing Vocals)
Steve Hackett (Guitar)

Producer - John Muir
Engineer - John Walters

Q: What's so good about it?
A: Previously we had only a poor version which was missing Salmacis
and had only one version of Harold

Q: Yeah, so why are there two versions of Harold?
A: Apparently they did two mixes, we had no idea about this until
this rebroadcast.

Q:. Are the two Harold's different performances.
A: I don't think so, just different mixes.

Q: Why is it sometimes referred to as the "lost" session?
A: The BBC lost track of the master but instead acquired the poor
fidelity incomplete bootleg version, a degenerated copy made
from the original broadcast. When Virgin planned to release the
session, they were going to include the bootleg version, but the
whole project was scrapped.

Q: So how was it found?
A: In a box just marked "Genesis" on a shelf at the Transcription
Service archive, circa 1995 by a truly excellent and
knowledgable individual.

Q: Does that mean we have all the Genesis BBC sessions now?
A: Yep, all except Dusk from Nightride 22-Feb-70 which is
probably lost for eternity.

Q: How does it sound?
A: Incredible!

Q: Will there be a pre-FM version?
A: Well the BBC certainly have one!

Thank you for sharing this amazing find! Is there any possible way to post the lossless/flac files as well? Thanks again!

If you review the above information, you'll know that the broadcast that has been shared here was not broadcast in a lossless format. In other words, as far as I know, a lossless broadcast has yet to happen.
