Pink Floyd - Rough Cut
The Final Cut Demos

A friend at work presented me with a CD-R of this last week. He stated he received it in a trade via snail mail years ago. It contained 23 tracks but many of them were repeats of the same song. None were labeled and no notes with the version I received. All of these songs are alternate versions of the "Final Cut". I love this album and had never heard any of these until last week. I searched DIME and did not see it posted, so I wanted to upload it for all of you who love this album.

There is one song I'm unsure of the title as it did not make it to the album. It has the music to 'The Hero's Return' with different lyrics. On the version of the CD-R I received, the song was in between "The Gunners Dream" and "Paranoid Eyes", so I left it there and named it "The Hero's Return - Part 2" for this download. The rest of the songs are alternate versions of the songs you already know and love.

I did not apply EQ or any mixing, however I did Normalize all Wav files using Audacity.

I'm not sure of the lineage, but I'll give you what I have:

CD-R -->WAV Files -->FLAC Files using Trader's Little Helper, level 8 -->YOU

im surpprised you have not heard this until last week.a version has been circulating by free range pigs(FRPCDR-021) for some time now.called roger waters and pink floyd the final cutting.A Prerequiem For The Post War Dream.ive not listened to your version yet.the one i have the notes tell you cassette bought in Argentina some 17 years ago. In some places the difference between this and the actual release are subtle and in other places the difference are quite stark changing the overall tone of some of the meanings inferred from the actual release.some words are different and some guitar work, not now john is totally different.if you like this Dr Forrester you will love the wall demos.If you have the wall demos please post.these two demo albums are a must have for any floyd fan.you see how the songs for these two albums progress.thanks again for all your hard work

Of course, i have heard these demos before. I have posted at least 3 other versions. I found two of these quickly. But, I'm sure there are more. I'll follow up later.

The Doctor's comment is a copy of the text that comes with the file and not a direct reflection of the good Doctor's views (or somemut like that!)
Thanks for this - not my favourite period but still essential - and who knows I might like the demos better than the official album!!!
I tried downloading the 2 links that you provided in your second comment, Dr, but the one that is still live (the pf-1983-rough-cut - should have seen that - so be warned you others!!) is the same one. Is the second worth having? If so can you reup it, please?

Btw, the "unknown track" is actually indeed called "The Hero's Return Part II". It has been recorded properly during the album sessions but eventually not used. Instead, it appeared on the B-side of the Not Now John, "glued" at the end of the album version of The Hero's Return. This was named "The Hero's Return Parts 1 & 2".
