This time around, you can choose from RS or MU thanks to the kind uploader. Thanks also to Paul (The Doctor) for his efforts in getting this one rounded up for us...
It was made using Quad tracks. The audio is present on the DVD in 3 forms. One of these is called Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP). It's the highest quality packing system available on DVDs (as far as I know). MLP can support up to 6 channels at 24 bit. Digital Theater Sound is the next nicest, because it supports 6 channels at 20 bit. Dolby Digital is now called .ac3 - it the audio form that is typically available on your everyday DVD release.
You need special hardware to play MLP or DTS. But, any player can play Dolby Digital.
To answer your question - the 4 channels are preserved, but are not encoded in the same fashion as on a Quad LP or 8-track tape. So, you can't call it Quad. Because, it's not.
Dr. Forrester, Many Thanks to you for getting this up for everyone to see,and I apologize once again for my lack of patience.
I'm also pleased to see that you have somehow(?) found what appears to be the original artwork for it,as I know that it wasn't originally included in the files that I had downloaded.
I noticed on that artwork the same Cat that also appears on the 'DSOTM' DVD-A. This shouldn't be of any surprise that it is from the same indiviual because the quality is definitely there.
Thanks For All you Help, and Sharing this with us! Listened to it on my ride to work this morning. It doesn't sound as "surrounding" as the DTS CD version I found somewhere else, But It IS Magical!!
I'm rather doubting that you have DTS hardware in a portable form that you could use on the ride to work. I'm guessing that you (more than likely) listened to the .ac3 track. Otherwise, if you listened to the DTS tracks without the proper hardware, they will not sound the same and may damage your gear. Really.
Absolutely! If you're any where near Charlotte, NC, I would Love to! I can get tons of things, Audio and Video, Window tinting, and Alarm / Remote Starters!
If you're at all interested I can drop you my e-mail address.
I Love helping others get the best sound possible. Then Jam Out The Floyd!!
Doctor, I feel your pain. I work at a stereo shop in Charlotte, and have owned my own Tint Business for some time now. I have just in the past two months fell off real bad. The economy is horrible. I can no longer afford to do my tint stuff, because of a lack of work. Many sleepless and crying nights. My world of Floyd is almost all that keeps my sanity in tack.
Let's all pray that we get out of this depression real soon.
Unemployment nationwide, I believe, is something like 10%. But, in Muskegon County, MI (where I live) we are leading the nation at an unemployment rate of right around 25%.
It's madness!!
My genuine sympathies all around. Employment uncertainties are a stress that nobody needs.
At least with some help from Saints like yourself, there is some relief at the end /start/and middle (LOL) of each day with some highly uplifting, and captivating music of the Floyd.
I for one don't believe I would be the Same without it. ;)
Yes, indeed, Jason. I had an online friend who chose the name Dr. Forrest - the cheese scientist from Steve Martin's film, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. I wanted to contribute to his blog, and I thought it would be amusing to have a similar, but not quite identical, name. I'm an MST3K fan, so the choice was obvious.
Dr. Clayton Forrester was a big influence during my impressionable younger years.
I enjoy making a mess at the house from time to time - even today.
I'm a big MST3K fan, although it's not as big a priority these days. In 1995, as the movie was coming out, I interviewed Michael J. Nelson for my university newspaper. He was a great interview. I was actually supposed to interview Trace (Dr. F), but he wasn't available at the time I called.
For the record, "High School Bigshot" is probably my favorite ep, but I only saw a handful of shows when they moved to Sci Fi.
Hello Dr. Forrester,I recently found another DVD-A.
I know the links are good(because I'm downloading it),but I'm not sure if you will be interested because it's Led-Zeppelin.(Zep,and Floyd are my two all-time fav's)
If you are - let me know, and I'll hook you up with those links.
By the way - the DVD-A is for the Zep album "Houses of the Holy".
Hello Dr. Forrester,no reply from you - so I'm guessing you're not interested? I still have the links if you want them. They're all still working. I finished downloading all the parts, and burned it already.
I am terribly sorry. I fully intended to get back to you on this. Things have been slipping recently, to be brutally honest. I have been working far, far too much for my own good. Guess it's better than not working at all.
Still, it's not fair to you that I haven't replied. I would be delighted to post your Zeppelin links. Either send them in an email or just leave them here in a comment if you'd prefer.
No need to apologize, your hard work's appreciated very much. Here's those links...

I checked these links once again before posting them for you - just to make sure they're still all working, and they are! Let me know if there's any problems.
Putting the files on MU pretty much rules me out as a downloader. However, I would still happily post the links for you. Do you have the cover art handy ? I'd like to put it in the post. Could you please email it to me or upload to RS ?
No Problem mate! I don't like Rapidshare, and its many restrictions - which is why I always go the Megaupload route whenever possible. However,I do have those links in Rapidshare for you - the coverart is already included inside the RAR files.
If you want the art before that - then here's a direct link for it:
p.s. - If there's any probs with any of the links - let me know. It'll be because I can't get all of the Rapidshare links typed in this comment box properly - they're so long! I don't know how to email you,I can't find a link anywhere - you can always contact me though through mine. Which I have left below as usual:

What program is needed to open or use the RTF info file? It says 12 links, but I only get the info. I would love to have this amazing DVD-A!
Thanks a ton for sharing!!
Oh My Goodness! Sorry for being so impatient here! I finally got it opened.
Thank You So Very Much!! Endless Thanks!!
I have WYWH on DTS, but this is still a great add. Thanks!

My car will play DVD-A and DTS discs, but it didn't like this disc. Any ideas if I need to kill the Video_TS folder, or...?
Thanks.
OOh Yee of Little Faith Dr. F. I do Car Stereo for a Living. I Do Have 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS in my Ride. :D Oh Yes I Rock Out!!

And Dr. Forrester. Thank You Deeply for Sharing Such Wonderful things. I Truly Say Thanks.
Wowser! I don't even have DTS in my home, let alone my car!!
I bow to you. B-)
DTS 5.1 mix of On An Island in the car is REALLY sweet!
No Kind Sir. You Are The Best! You help pass the wonderful sounds of The Floyd and tons others! Sir We All Bow to You!
Thank You Once More. For Everything.
I Agree Jason. The way the sound is compacted into a tighter area, It simply is amazing. I do get Tears in my ride every now and again.
Dr. F. if you are any where near Charlotte, NC, I would be honored to hook up some killer sounds at Wholesale Prices for you!
Thanks can't be said enough.
BrettB(NC),
Any discounts on building me my dream car stereo system?
I'd love to be able to experience in my car what you do!

Great! Now all I need is a car! LOL Kidding of course, but seriously - I need a job first!
Right now,I'm just a statistic,as an unemployed Graphic Artist.
Do you own your own business - you can hire me. I'll come and live in your car that has a better system than any of our homes! LOL
Shine On,The Doctor ; )
