U.K. from Penns Landing - Philadelphia, PA on august 8th, 1978

This was a free concert if i remember
correctly. I was planning on going to this show with some high school friends. We didn`t make it to the show. So after all these years i get to hear it.

UK was a terrific progressive band until Bruford (ex-King Crimson, Yes, Gong, Genesis) and Allan Holdsworth (ex-Tempest, Soft Machine, Gong) left.

The Toronto show is a speed fixed version of a master reel of a radio broadcast. Hempstead is an excellent sounding Lostbrook audience recording. Sadly, another audience recording, Morristown, is unenjoyable for me.

The Philadelphia show is from a pre-FM source - superior to that used by PRRP.

The Cleveland show was broadcast by the BBC, the London Wavelength Concert Hour. Two versions of the same show were later posted with a date of November 9, 1978. The 1st of those postings is from a pre-FM BBC transcription disc - probably superior to a recording made off the air.

I recommend any of the FM or pre-FM recordings presented here by Just Add Cones.

thanks so much for sharing these UK shows.. most of these I have read about but never been able to obtain a copy.. so a thousands thanks :)

for anyone who hasn't heard it, I highly recommend the Morristown NJ 1978 show - awesome clear sound, I would stack this against any modern DAT recording for quality. Great performance, too. Probably the only show I have by UK that truly captures the power of Wetton's bass pedals, during Alaska. I remember how that felt when I saw the band live in 1978 - vibrating through the whole theater (and my innards LOL - he almost found the brown note)

Same with the 1979 Hamburg show - awesome sound quality, great performance, an unreleased song, and a priceless moment when the crowd start yelling at the band that the sound is too loud LOL hilarious... :)
