Metropole Orkest The Music of Robert Fripp Paradiso Amsterdam (NL)
Guitarist and composer Robert Fripp founded the band King Crimson - which epitomises British progressive rock. As a soloist, Fripp was best known for his Soundscapes, an improvisation technique in which he used a variety of electronics to evoke a cathedral of sound on his own. Fripp is regarded as a pioneer in rock music and an innovator in the use of the electric guitar.
The Metropole Orchestra performs arrangements made by the British composer Andrew Keeling of Fripp's music. Several of these arrangements have been made by Keeling especially for the Holland Festival. Among the adaptations are three titles by King Crimson. Along with Bert Lams (California Guitar Trio), Keeling managed to adapt several Soundscapes so they could be performed by a complete orchestra.
