Dark Side Of The Moon - Alan Parsons' Mix

A friend kindly shared this with me the other day. Very, very groovy stuff... You can listen to Alan Parsons' mix in dolby digital or in dts. Of course, you need the appropriate hardware.

hi, it is classics DSOTM in 5.1 or some kind of remix?

It didn't come with a text file or artwork. So, I can't absolutely swear to the contents. But, I am told that this is the discrete 4 channel recording sourced from Alan Parsons' mix masters. I am trying to pursue some art or other information...

Lovely! Thank you very much, and thanks again for all that you do.

Excellent post!! Other times I found this it was in rawer form and I gave up trying to get it to play easily. This post is an iso image file which can be easily burned to DVD for any DD or DTS capable player.Choose DD or DTS 4.1 surround in the start menu and you get great surround with slideshow.Sounds so much like 1972 when I saw them at Hec Edmundson Pavillion at U Of W in Seattle. They had a great surround setup & lightshow. I only just recently listened to this for the first time.

It really was exciting to hear this landmark recording in this version - it almost felt like the first time again!

I'd really like to know more about this - is there any more info available anywhere? Is it REALLY Alan Parsons original Quad mix,or...?

How,and when did it first become available? I'd really love to know the history of this.

As always - I LOVE this site!

Unfortunately, I do not have any further information apart from that shared on the artwork. Sorry!

Maybe you could ask around on Y?

The Doctor ; ) said...

Well,I've been doing some serious detective work on the net looking for any info I can find on the origins of this Quad mix,and so far - nothing.

I've learned a few new things (nothing too exciting) about the original 'Dark Side' project, but nothing at all on this.

I'll continue to search, but for the moment I'm curious about finding if there's also a Quadraphonic Mix available in this same DVD format for another one of the Floyd's albums - my fav - 'Wish You Were Here'.

'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' 'Welcome To The Machine" in this format - does it get any better?

Has anyone at least heard of this being out there somewhere?

Apparently there IS a 'Wish You Were Here' in this same
DVD-A(udio)format,but all I can find on it so far is info, and no actual download links (except for
torrents - which are no good to me).

I don't suppose anyone reading this has any DL links?

Well,I've spent many late nights hunched over my PC monitor desperately trying to find the
'Wish You Were Here' DVD-A,and still - NOTHING!!!

All I keep finding are links for it to 'Torrents' and I don't know the first thing about using a Torrent???

I'm surprised that the 'WYWH'
DVD-A has never been posted here - especially since the 'DSOTM' one has been. Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised at all as from what I've been reading online so far the 'DSOTM' DVD-A is very popular, while the 'WYWH' DVD-A seems not to be so. There also appears to be two different versions of that 'WYWH' DVD-A floating around out there. One is at least a GIG larger in size. Are they from the same individual who created the 'DSOTM' DVD-A? No one knows, but many suspect that it probably is.

Anyway,I've contacted an Italian friend of mine(who does use Torrents)and asked him to download it,and put it up on 'Megaupload' for me. Whether,or not he does this for me remains to be seen, but if he does - I could send you the links Dr.Forrester so that you could post them here for eveyone else, and of course yourself (if you're interested).

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,Paul ; )

Of course, I would be interested... Absolutely anything like what you're describing would be very welcome. Maybe Atom Heart Mother exists as well?

heh Dr. Forrester - arrival of those sacred links is imminent!

Dr. Forrester,I've only just received these links - so I don't know how good it's going to sound, but the links themselves ARE good. I've already tested them.

Thanks go out to 'Adrian' (whose contributed to your board before)in England for finding it,and then also a shoutout to 'Roberto' my bootleg friend in Italy (he runs the T.U.B.E. site) who transferred the files to Megaupload for me, because I don't have an account with the EVIL,GREEDY Rapidshare people!

Anyway,I present to you both sets of links from Megaupload, and Rapidshare - so everyone can have their own choice!

Thanks aren't necessary, but I thought that you were going to take my links, and give them there own proper posting - I mean who's going to find them hidden in the comments from an old post from January?!

I think that makes sense - don't you? Alot of people are going to miss this one,and I gave those links to you with the intention of helping alot of people to discover, and enjoy the WYWH DVD-A.

In the end it seems like much ado about nothing.

Honestly... You have so little faith. I am currently away from home for 3 days. During that time, I am unable to unpack your files - so I do not have access to the cover art... I can't even validate that the links are working. Please be a little, tiny bit patient, and we'll get things sorted. Really.

Dr.Forrester I apologize for that misunderstanding. I was just seriously excited to finally get my hands on those links, and share them with you.

However, when I saw that they had been posted here, and nowhere else, I was disappointed thinking no one else would ever know.

You're right, and I'm sorry - I should have been more patient. I promise I'm going to switch to decaf!

Thank you EVER so much for the AP Mix, Dr. Forrester. I was taken back to '73 and the first time I listened to DSOTM...the feeling of...oh...wow!!!
The best version of DSOTM I've ever heard, bar none.

Thank you!!!
