After transferring Ken's live "Pros and Cons" video ("Exit 16W" HRV DVD 016) he mentioned that he also shot David Gilmour's show at the Kabuki Theater in San Francisco. Unfortunately he never turned on the audio and all he was left with was a silent video. I assured him that I could find the audio for this show and properly synch it up with his video. The audio that I used was from "Feeding The Fever" (thanks to the unknowm taper) which I left untouched for this DVD. The tricky part, as usual, was finding the "stretch" for the video to compensate for the slightly slower running speed which turned out to be 1.015 and while this percent may seem insignificant, it still presented enough of a synching challenge. The video for each song had to be individually matched up with the audio for which I used a very small and blurry Chris Slade for my reference (thanks Chris!). I think that it all stays pretty tight for 99% of the time.
So why the widescreen format? The way that Ken set up the video captured the stage at the very bottom of the screen leaving a lot of dead air from the midpoint to the top. By rendering the MPEG-2 as a widescreen image I was able to take advantage of this aspect ratio by cropping off the top of the picture and raising up the image, centering it for a better visually-balanced viewing experience. Why 2 discs? To keep the bit rate as high as possible in addition to using the original PCM stereo files (upconverted here from 44.1kHz to 48kHz for the DVD). Please note that the audio drops out for several seconds during the playback of this DVD. This was most likely due to the tape being flipped or changed. No musical portions were cut.
While not as elaborately staged as Roger Waters' "Pros and Cons" shows, I find this video just as entertaining... even more so. While some tracks on the "About Face" album may come off as being mediocre, they really come to life for this live performance.
A big thanks again to Ken G. for unearthing yet another buried treasure from the vaults and also kudos to the taper of "Feeding The Fever". Also thanks to Moonwall for the artwork.

1987.08.07 - Hangar Rehearsals '87
Every now and again, a DVD turns up that knocks me sideways. I never, ever thought that this footage would turn up. The quality is incredible! If you like the Momentary Lapse era Floyd, this 2 DVD set is a MUST !!
This concert footage was shot on three Betacam oxide (professional) tapes. It was shot by a pro crew (likely an MTV crew) but might have been hired by CBS records.
The songs are all incomplete, and if some are only here in a very short part, some are still very enjoyable. There are several reasons for this. Clearly the crew had only one camera and was shooting for the purpose of B-roll editing, that is getting shots edited in between interview footage to produce one or more MTV segments news. The crew would have had no reason to shoot complete songs, much less the entire set. They may have also received clear indication not to record complete songs in order to prevent bootlegging. The last factor was that they only had three 20 minutes tapes which limited their capacities to record more than necessary.
Also, keep in mind that the album had not been released yet, and the tour had not started. The crew didn’t know the new songs and had no idea of what would come next, neither in terms of content/interest nor in terms of visual event.
That explains the many lingering dark shots.
Also, don’t forget that this is raw, unedited footage.
The source was originally supplied with the camera (audience) sound on one channel and the mixing desk sound on the second channel (except when the cameraman moved closer to the stage, no soundboard audio was available).
We did a smart mix of both sources on one audio track and have kept the soundboard source on another audio track of this DVD.
BUT …
This DVD offers for the very first time, the second, unreleased, part of the footage, consisting of the unedited interviews with (a very sarcastic) David Gilmour & Nick Mason, Robbie Williams and Morris Lyda. Further footage feature shots of the crew at work and more rehearsals.
All in stunning professional quality !!!

1971-10-10 - Bradford University
From a very clean clone of the master cassettes. These tapes are the source for every Bradford release that you have heard. This is a direct transfer from the first generation tapes which date from 1971.
The recording includes all tune-ups and band chatter between tracks. The boys are in a playful mood, as you can tell by their interaction with the audience, which is very quiet during the songs. There is no appreciable hiss. The taper also used 60 minute cassettes, 30 minutes to a side, which is obvious by the breaks.
'Careful With That Axe, Eugene': The recording begins with the first few notes of the song. I especially like Roger's scream since it is--by my count--a full 19 seconds long! 'Fat Old Sun': A great jam session. Vocals are not perfectly clear, but you can hear every word. There are some interesting guitar licks during the tune-ups.
'Set The Controls': The first tape flip occurs during the intro. After the song, Roger introduces 'Atom Heart Mother' then says the band is going to take a break, followed by what sounds like "then we're going to have a drink."
'Atom Heart Mother': During the intro, there are several pops which sound as if they might have been due to a loose microphone lead.
'Echoes': The opening pings to this "new piece" just pierces your skull.
'Cymbaline': The "footsteps" sequence goes on for quite a while. The third and final tape flip occurs during this sequence.
'One Of These Days': David introduces this new song using its full title. This was the second performance of this song, the first was at the BBC on 30 September.
'A Saucerful Of Secrets': The final break in the tape occurs prior to 'Celestial Voices'.

St. Tropez - 8-Aug-1970 - HRV Version
Here is the official Harvested version of this classic film. It has the best audio sync of all of the versions that I have seen. Jolly Good Job! If you want only one version of this film, let it be this one! Get all 34 links here.

Pink Floyd - (1977.02.22) Pavillion De Pigs [FRP CDR 028-29]
From Pigland East - This tape is complete and with only one minor cut--a very brief tape flip at 44:03 into the second set, which indicates the taper was using a 90 minute cassette. As usual, FRP strives to bring you the best possible sound without destroying the archival value of the source tape by attempting a heavy remastering job.
The audience claps after the 3rd verse during 'Pigs (3DO)' and Roger did not squeal a number. The audience is generally very quiet and respectful, which is a refreshing change from the standard audience recording of this tour. Not a single firework to be heard! David performs an incredible jam during 'SOYCD (Pts. 6-9)'. This is truly a recording of a band playing at its peak.
From Pigland West - I'm listening to the show again. What strikes me the most is the amazing clarity of the recording and the polite and obviously captivated audience. They are like a Japanese audience--quiet when they should be and clapping/cheering where appropriate. Hard to believe they are French (just kidding Pigland Europe!). The performance, I think, is rather uninspired but certainly an excellent and competent one. A bit mechanical, maybe. Does David mess up the words in one of the songs?
Pink Floyd - (1969.10.11) Song Days '69 [FRP CDR 001]
Pink Floyd played on the last night of this three day festival (10/9-10/11) and were second on the bill to The Nice. The Festival featured bands of the day including; Yes, Cuby's Blues Band, Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac and others. The set list included A Saucerful of Secrets as the closer, but that has not made it to this recording or any other known recording.
This recording is *very old* however sound quality rates Good to Very Good in places. This recording has been speed corrected, and some cuts have been treated with fades to produce a more enjoyable listen. Some of the dropouts were unable to be treated as this is a mono recording.

1968-01-17 - BBC Tomorrow's World
Tomorrow's World - Mike Leonard kept the only existing copy of this under his bed from 1968 to 1994. Lucky for us, he pulled it out in 1994 & gave it to the BBC for use in their Omnibus documentary on the Floyd. Although it is ostensibly concerned with Mr. Leonard and his light machines, it, nevertheless, gives us a completely unique look at the Floyd at the time as well as a completely unique song!
This is a different version of the Tomorrow's World Show (21-March-1968) which does not feature the Floyd - but which is in COLOR!! This version really shows you what his light machine can do! Well, well worth checking out!
I'll put the link for a THIRD version of this broadcast somewhere else... See if you can find it.

PF Secret Rarities (MOB remaster)
Here is a lovely collection of items that were "secret" for ages. But, they've recently been circulating around a bit. Happily, one of the members of the Harvested team took some time to tweak the tracks for us. Sorry, no artwork for this collection. But, if you're into the Momentary Lapse Floyd, you really need to give these tracks a good listen...

Pink Floyd - The Look Of The Week
Here is probably the best quality copy of The Look Of The Week footage that you'll ever find. It was digitally captured from a digital rebroadcast of the Sounds Of The Sixties series on BBC4. I'll post a different copy - one with the full interview - in a day or so. It won't look quite as nice as this one, though... You really need them both!
Jill Sobule - The Man In The Boat
Here's a video that was issued nearly 15 years ago as part of a collection called Spew+. Nice name, eh ? It's a brilliant song about... uhhhh.... Well.... Maybe I should just let you think about it for a few minutes.
Jill Sobule - Ephemera Collection
Here's something for all of you Jill Sobule collectors out there... Some folks collect Ephemera - that is to say "paper goods" - ticket stubs, posters, promotional postcards, magazine reviews, lyric sheets, set lists, etc. So, here are Ephemera collections for each of Jill's albums. ..

The Lost Documentary - The Trailer
There was once a DVD released of a Behind The Scenes documentary done of the Wall shows. I believe that the DVD release was halted shortly after it began, making it one of the more limited DVD releases ever!
The web site had a trailer on it for quite a while, trying to drum up interest prior to the Big Release. It's a lovely nugget that you need to stash away somewhere!

The Body
Remember that the soundtrack for the film is not the same as the music on the soundtrack album... The original recordings, on the film, were done in Mono. The songs had to be re-recorded in Stereo for the soundtrack LP. Thanks to the good folks over at Pigs On The Wing for this lovely DVD... Get all 34 links here.

Roger Waters - The Tide Is Turning (rare version)
This is the rare alternate edit of the Tide Is Turning video. It was accidently included on a Beta video tape of music videos promoting Columbia artists. It is significantly different from the usual version that you probably already have on the Radio KAOS EP.
What's that, Skippy ? You want to see both versions of the video playing side by side ? Welll... Alright. Just this once -
