Pink Floyd 1968-xx-xx A Saucerful Of Secrets SX6258 mono (24bit 96kHz)

Pink Floyd
A Saucerful Of Secrets - mono version

Lineage: LP > Technics SLBD-22 > Behringer PP400 phono pre-map > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Audacity 1.3 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz)

xACT used to create FFP

01 Let There Be More Light
02 Remember A Day
03 Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
04 Corporal Clegg
05 A Saucerful Of Secrets
06 See-Saw
07 Jugband Blues

Total running time: 39 mins 8 secs

My copy of this LP is in visually excellent condition. I recorded in stereo, then split the stereo to mono. On Side A I found that the right channel was stronger and had less crackles and pops and on Side B the reverse was so. Using this to my advantage, I dropped the two weaker channels to create a pure mono recording. It was tempting to then reach for the click and pop removal effect in Audacity but I decided to leave it alone and keep this transfer raw.

Dear Dr.

The Red Book specifies the physical parameters and properties of the CD, the optical "stylus" parameters, deviations and error rate, modulation system (eight-to-fourteen modulation, EFM) and error correction facility (cross-interleaved Reed–Solomon coding, CIRC), and the eight subcode channels. These parameters are common to all compact discs and used by all logical formats, such as CD-ROM. The standard also specifies the form of digital audio encoding: 2-channel signed 16-bit Linear PCM sampled at 44,100 Hz. Although rarely used, the specification allows for discs to be mastered with a form of emphasis.

I can down sample to 16/44.1 using SoundForge. That's not a huge deal. However, people almost always prefer 24/96 to do noise removal or other modifications. This is why I try to share in 24/96 when I have those files available.

Thanks Dr. anyway, you share always the best source. My best regards, K.

wow! I just discovered too late that some new floydian stuff have appeared on this blog that I've cherished since years...

thanks so much for this transfer Neonknight...

is there a way the raw transfer could be re-up (wetransfer link have expired) ?

the only link that still works is the "de-clicked, lightly polished version"- sounds great.
did you supervised this "reworked" version Neonknight ? (I'm a bit confused, because after reading your comments it seems that you did consider that it sounded good enough and did not need pops repair etc...)
