Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians Moby Disc Records In-Store Santa Monica, CA April 25, 1993
Recorded by JEMS Authored by Chrisedge Mastered to DVD from the 8mm master tape. Most likely filmed on a Sony TR-7 (can't remember and don't really care)
Open the Door, Homer (Dylan cover) When I Was Dead Winchester Chinese Bones Driving Aloud (Radio Storm) Waterloo Sunset (Kinks cover) Oceanside
In the '80s and early '90s JEMS was semi-active in recording video as well as audio. This is but one small example, more of a test-run really, a charming in-store set by Robyn, Morris and Andy. Though they were standing against a bright window, the picture quality is pretty good, just a bit washed out, reasonably steady, mostly unobstructed and with good sound. The set includes a couple of very appealing covers, and like all Robyn shows, the between-song banter is at least as entertaining as the songs themselves.
Chrisedge did the very cool authoring of this disc (he also did the Santa Monica Pier Belly DVD torrented awhile back, one camera of which was done by me and my friend Exit Club, who owned the camera). On this disc, the credit is listed as Exit Club, but it was only his camera; JEMS filmed. TRT is just over 40 mins.
