GENESIS

UNO Lakefront Arena
New Orleans, La.
January 25th, 1984

Back in the mid 1980's, I worked at a little hole-in-the-wall used record shop in the New Orleans French Quarter. The store
sold bootleg cassettes, mostly sourced from whatever vinyl boots happened to wander in the place. Occasionally, a local
taper would bring things in to trade, which is where this tape came from. I made a copy one day (on normal bias tape!) and
stuck it away in a box where it sat for years. I honestly never even listened to it until I made the transfer for this upload!

Quality is really pretty good, and I'm guessing the store's master was a first gen which would make my tape a second gen. I did normalize
the tracks to 0 db and did a minor bit of EQ-ing as the bass was quite boomy and it needed some midrange boost. The first track starts out
very muffled for the first minute but improves dramatically after that. The second side of the tape had some issues with phasing and was
distracting to listen to as it was. I found the best way to fix that was to take the right channel and make a two channel mono track of just the
right channel. Of course, if a better copy is circulating, please let me know and we'll stop this upload so as not to taint the trading pool!

Running time is just over 90 mins. Best place to split the two discs is between tracks 5 and 6. I don't know if this track list is accurate as I am not a Genesis
freak and I'm only copying what was on the insert that came with the tape. (the store used to do these cheesy little colored inserts with the cassettes they
would sell!) It's possible I could have screwed up the song splits as well! There is the beginning few seconds of another track at the end of FYFM but that's
where the original tape ended.

Source 2 Notes -

I recorded this show using a mono Aiwa cassette recorder from the lower part of the upper deck, but after a little tweaking in Soundforge I think this came out pretty good. I know fo3 sources for this show: 2 on CD and 1 that is probably still on tape, but I don't know. I attended this show with two other Genesis fans and one of the guys taped it as well. I lost touch with him when he moved to New York City so I would say its the 3rd source still on tape, probably never to be heard. The other source that I have is a 1st gen that I got on tape from another buddy taper and I transferred to CD. I opted to post my version of the show as its from my master tapes. Yes, the other source is stereo to some degree, but I still went with this one.

lineage: Aiwa recorder > tape > PC > SoundForge > CD > FLAC > you
