  1. Genesis : The Lostbrook Tape Series - Volume 18

We had already digested the news of Steve Hackett’s departure from
Genesis, but the reality didn’t sink in until I heard “Follow You
Follow Me” in the studio of my college radio station. My fellow DJ’s
took a strange delight in my distress over the end of an era. Nevertheless,
I was reasonably sure that Genesis would still be great in concert and
wasn’t about to rip up my ticket, even for a Hackett-less, general admission
event in Suffern - wherever that was. This wasn’t my worst GA experience,
but the staff at Rockland certainly had an idiotic plan. They forced the
crowd to wait for hours at the top of a flight of concrete steps, guaranteeing
that we would run down them at break-neck speed when the doors opened and
endanger everyone. We eventually squeezed through the doors and grabbed seats
somewhere around the seventh row on the center aisle. Steve Hackett was
irreplaceable of course, but this was still an excellent performance. If
my research is correct, this could be the earliest complete tape from the
1978 tour. Then again, it’s April Fool’s Day - as it was then - and I’ve
    been fooled before.
