Matrix by MOB, from the following sources:
    - "La Claque!"
(taped by FLG with Sony MZ-RH10 and Sony ECM719 mics)
    - "Un Peu De Beaujolais Et Un Peu De Silence"
(taped by Xave with Sony MZ-NH1 MD and Sony ECM17 mics)

    Mastering notes:

Mastering a matrix from different sources of a same concert
is a delicate work. Very often, the final result can sound
worse than the best of the sources used. To have a chance
that a matrix sounds better than the separate sources, the
following conditions have to be fulfilled:
    - the sources must have similar sound quality (if you mix
an average recording with a superb one, the process will
deteriorate the sound quality of the best source, because
imperfections from the average recording will be audible)
    - each source has to have its own strengths, and they have
to be somewhat "complementary" between the sources.

This is exactly what happened with the Vienne concert: two
superb recordings surfaced, one taped by FLG ("La Claque!")
and one taped by Xave ("Un Peu De Beaujolais Et Un Peu De
Silence"). While the FLG recording has crystal clear sound
quality, it lacks some low end, making it sound a bit tiny
on bass. On the other hand, the recording from Xave has a
very powerful sound with good rendition of the low end, but
has less definition in the high frequencies.

During the mastering process of the matrix, apart from the
obvious work to ensure perfect synchro of the sources,
special care has been taken in order to find the best
balance between the 2 sources. Here and there, levels were
adjusted for better consistency throughout the show, e.g.
the intro of SOYCD, where the FLG source was boosted for
    the quiet parts.

I'm very happy with the result. You can consider this matrix
is either "La Claque!" with more punch and deepness, or "Un
Peu De Beaujolais Et Un Peu De Silence" with better clarity.

Apart from the strictly technical aspects and sound quality,
I must say that the performance during the Vienne concert
was phenomenal. David and the band were obviously enjoying
themselves, and some versions are probably the best from
the 2006 tour. On An Island is by far my favorite version
from the tour, it's played with full energy and emotion,
the ending guitar solo itself is really a blessed moment,
with David in a state of grace (play it loud and you'll
be unable to hide some tears). The interpretation of Fat
Old Sun is also the highlight of the tour for me, with a
crazy ending solo where David is really floating on his
cloud. This is David playing fantastic, improvised and
inspired music, without a safety net. And there are plenty
of other wonderful moments during the show. Don't miss it!

    Enjoy!

  2. Another fabulous show! I do have a quick question, though -- is there anyway you could re-up the concerts he did at Royal Albert Hall on May 29th and May 30th? I would be greatly appreciative. :D
