It has been my pleasure to share live recordings and other weirdness here over the past 2 years. However, the fact is that the folks who run Rapidshare are, well, idiots. I could rant on about it, but I won't.
Just know that I regret having to make the decision to scrap this whole project. Hopefully, though, it hasn't been a complete waste. I have enjoyed these recordings - and did not make very many of them myself. That means that I have benefitted from the kindness and effort of many, many strangers. I hope that I have been able to pay that debt forward a little by sharing these goodies with you.
Shine On You Crazy Diamonds. Maybe we'll bump into each other at a Roger Waters concert. B-)

A very sad day but understandable in the circumstances. Many many thanks for all the wonderful music you have shared here with us and wishing you the very for the future, whatever that holds for you.

I don't know what the fuck the suits @ Rapidshare are thinking...people are already leaving in friggin' droves...I know I won't be re-upping with them until they come to their senses and maybe not after that. I've stayed with them through stupid decision after stupid decision but it ends now.
Thanks for all of the great tunes you've hooked us up with and I wish you nothing but fun and success in whatever future endeavors you undertake.

Hey Dr., very sad post.. just when I thought things might be expanding! :). Have you checked out Megaupload or Hotfile? Thats where everyone is going nowadays (especially Megaupload, I have links for like whole Wings tours for MU and the premium accounts are cheap too), maybe you don't have to call it a day yet?... :). I would happily start uploading the archives for you bit by bit. And, I was going to use Megaupload for the posts I planned to do anyway. So I hope you're not going to shut down completely!. Also check out your email, I got something I want to post to you (since its late Wednesday I couldnt get it out yet but if you get the email to me by tomorrow the discs will go out then) ;D.

just a thought,but have you considered taking an 'extended' leave of absence to relax,and
get-a-way for a while? then you could regroup,and resurface with another new site,and design?
then go with another different file-sharing service (there are plenty) such as megaupload.
it doesn't have to be over if you don't want it to be. however,if you're just tired of working on it then that would be understood as it must be very time consuming for you to run the site.

As has been echoed many times above, this is a sad day but not completely unexpected. Does the recent "we really screwed up" email from RapidShare change anything (not that it did in my case, those idiots aren't ever getting another dime from me)? How about a different service (Mega, etc)?
If not, thank you so much for all that has come through here in the past couple of years, I've enjoyed the Floyd focus & the recent stump hunts. Looking at my archives I'm surprised at just how much originated here (Gilmour being my favorite musician probably had something to do with that ;-) ).
If you change your mind later & decide to start up again here or elsewhere, please drop me a line (if you've still got the address from various conversations).

Doc, Rapidshare sucks right now, and the best way to stop them screwing up a useable service, is not to give up, but to carry on, with another service. Better still, take it to torrent.
